What are the differences between Natural Smoked Salmon & Sockeye Smoked Salmon?

Our Sockeye Smoked  Salmon is characterized by a high oil content with a red colored flesh. The high oil content delivers a Smoked Salmon product which has a very rich salmon flavor. Natural Smoked Salmon, also known as a Pink Salmon, has a little less oil content and a lighter rose colored flesh. The lower oil content provides a Smoked Salmon product that has a mild salmon flavor. Both are excellent products for smoking. Select the Smoked Salmon flavor profile that is right for you- rich or mild.

From a pricing standpoint the Sockeye is higher priced because of two factors: Sockeye is the primary Salmon choice for the International market. This creates a high demand for the product at the processing level. As with any product as the demand goes up so does the price. The second factor in the price difference is the shear volume of Pink Natural Salmon available out of Southeast Alaska. The tremendous amount of natural salmon (our Natural Smoked Salmon) has kept the price of these salmon very reasonable for several years.
