What other styles of Smoked Salmon are available on the market?
In addition to hot smoked Salmon there are also two other ways to smoke salmon. We do not offer either variety at Alaska Smokehouse, however the following describes these types of smoking processes for your reference.
Nova style smoked salmon, also called cold smoked salmon, are smoked for a few hours at 90 degrees. This process provides a buttery textured salmon that slices easily. This salmon must be frozen or refrigerated and has about a ten day shelf life after it has been thawed.
Lox is a heavily salted salmon product that has no heat or cooking involved, like Nova style salmon it slices easily and must be frozen or refrigerated and has about a ten day shelf life after it has been thawed.
